Oklahoma State Cowboy Jamboree Canceled in 2018 Due to Construction

By Adam Kopet

Oklahoma State released its cross country schedule for the 2018 season Monday and one notable meet missing this year is the Cowboy Jamboree.

The Cowboy Jamboree serves as Oklahoma State's only regular season home meet each year. The meet history goes back to 1937. Oklahoma State considers it the oldest cross country meet in the country.

The 2018 edition of the Cowboy Jamboree, however, has been canceled due to construction. The course is being upgraded before it hosts the 2019 NCAA Division 1 Midwest Cross Country Regional and the 2020 NCAA Division 1 Cross Country Championships.

Oklahoma State will open its season Sept. 1 at the Tulsa Duels. It will also compete at the Nuttycombe Invitational, hosted by Wisconsin. Oklahoma State will be planning a return trip to Wisconsin for the NCAA Division 1 Cross Country Championships.

The Big 12 Cross Country Championships will be held this year in Ames, Iowa, and the NCAA Division 1 Midwest Regional will be held in Peoria, Ill.
